How to Protect Yourself from COVID-19

Coronavirus, also known as COVID-19, is a highly contagious viral disease that has claimed many lives across the globe. Currently, there have been over 11.5 million confirmed cases, with over half a million deaths. 6.5 million plus recoveries have been recorded. COVID-19 has spread simultaneously across the globe since the first case was reported in December 2019. Socio-economic activities have come to a standstill, with several schools and businesses shutting down. People have been forced to work or study from home as a result. Coronavirus has pneumonia-like symptoms. Common symptoms of the disease include:

  • Fever
  • Dry Cough
  • Fatigue
  • Chest Pain
  • Difficulty in breathing in severe cases

It can easily spread through coming intohand sanitizing contact with different surfaces or inhaling droplets from someone who has coughed or sneezed. When one coughs or sneezes, droplets containing the virus are suspended in the air for about 30 minutes. It can stay on surfaces for long. That is the reason behind the highly contagious nature of the disease.

The disease has now been around for more than six months, and this does not seem to end any time soon. The World Health Organization (WHO) recently stated that COVID -19 could be endemic. The only choice we are left with is to learn how to live with it. There are several approved ways you can protect yourself from coronavirus, as advised by the world health body. They include:

You should also avoid public gatherings, which are now banned in most parts of the world. The chances of contracting this disease are very minimal when you observe these rules.

Sanitizing

Washing your hands immediately you come into contact with different surfaces can also keep you free from COVID-19. You can use a soap or alcohol-based hand sanitizer that will kill the virus. You should also avoid the usual hand greeting because the disease can spread quickly through it. Look for the right sanitizers to stay safe from the virus.
